Members not presenting their membership cards will have to be checked in manually. This will take a few minutes and could cause you to be late for your class.  Please note that staff members are instructed to allow NO exceptions to this rule.  Lost cards can be replaced at the member services desk for a $1.00 fee.

Age Restrictions
All children under the age of 11 (10 & younger) must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult 18 years of age or older or be in a YMCA supervised program.

Adult must stay with children at all times. Adult may be asked to provide proof of age (i.e. Driver’s License).

Silver Sneakers LogoSilverSneakers Program - the YMCA of Rowan County is offering the Healthways SilverSneakers® Fitness Program.  This program enables people 65 and older to take control of their health and well-being. Older adults who are eligible to participate in the award-winning fitness program may qualify for a free Y membership through their health care provider.

The goal of the SilverSneakers Fitness Program is to minimize age-related physical deterioration, enhance general health and skill-related activities, improve daily living functionality, and increase a person’s sense of well-being through exercise.

Individuals wishing to join SilverSneakers must first contact their health insurance provider to confirm that their health plan qualifies them for the free Y membership.  You may also call SilverSneakers to verify eligibility at 1-888-423-4632.  The next steps include bringing in a copy of your insurance card, completing the SilverSneakers enrollment form, and obtaining your Y membership ID card. The ID card must be scanned at the reception desk upon entering the Y at each visit. New members will receive information on everything covered by the membership.

With your SilverSneakers membership, you have full access to the Y Fitness Center, swimming pools, gymnasium, group exercise classes and the many other amenities included in a membership.  People 65 and older who are already members of the Y and qualify to join SilverSneakers should contact the front desk to adjust their membership.

For more information about enrolling in SilverSneakers, please contact the Senior Advisor.
