Y Spotlight

The Saleeby Fisher YMCA is a very special place.  We are blessed with many talented staff members dedicated to serving our members and the community.

It is with pleasure we spotlight one of our brightest STARS-  Mr. David Freeze, our Property Manager for 2 1/2 years.

David has two daughters, Ashley and Amber Freeze. He is a member of First Baptist Church in China Grove. His volunteer activities include: President of the Salisbury Rowan Runners Club, South Rowan YMCA Service Club, United Way Day of Caring Steering Committee, Meals on Wheels Volunteer and YMCA Youth Sports Coach.

David enjoys running and managing his 43-acre Arabian horse breeding and hay crop farm.  He is also an avid supporter of Davidson Wildcats basketball.

His favorite YMCA program is the After school running program which benefits 145 kids K-5 in the East Rowan area. David states, "I greatly enjoy working with the kids and counselors to achieve gains in fitness, nutrition, and battling childhood obesity in a positive way. Our program won a national award from the Road Runners Club of America in 2007 for being one of the 5 best kids running programs in the nation. We currently have the kids doing a virtual run to Key West and are communicating with the Southernmost Runners Club from Key West for rewards for our kids and a return program to benefit their kids. This program continues throughout the school year".
